Definition |
Climate change (CC) is the change in the global and regional patterns, in particular a change apparent from the mid to late 20th centuries onwards and is attributed largely to the increase levels of atmismospheric carbon dioxide produced by the use of fossil fuels where as Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) is a systematic approach that is used to identify, asses and reduce the risk of disaster. It aims to reduce the socio-economic vulnerabilities to disaster and at the same time dealing with the environmental and other hazards that trigger them. |
Concept |
*Despite the fact that Vanuatu is amongst the vulnerable countries prone to natural hazards, responsible institutions (MoCCA, MoET) play a tremendous role in making sure Vanuatu is strong and resilient to all types of disaster by introducing modules in schools to educate students to know more on climate change and DRR and be disaster resilient citizens.
